Rory Gilmore Reading Challenge

Who is Rory Gilmore?
Rory Gilmore was a character on the hit TV series Gilmore Girls.

The Gilmore Girls series followed a young single mother named Lorelai and her daughter, Rory, through their everyday lives in a small town called Stars Hollow.  The show ran for seven seasons and gained a huge cult following.

On Friday, November 25th, Netflix is continuing their story, releasing four 90-minute episodes titled "Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life."

In celebration of this release, The Menomonee Falls Public Library is having a RORY GILMORE READING CHALLENGE!

How do you participate?
All 339 books referenced in the show are listed in a booklet you can pick up at the library. Read books from this list during the month of November to earn entries into a drawing to win:
  •  A Gilmore Girls coffee cup
  •  A book from the list: "The unabridged journals of Sylvia Plath, 1950-1962" by Sylvia Plath
  •  And a box of cornstarch!
How many books do I have to read?
You get 1 entry per book! Read a lot of books, get a lot of entries! The more entries you have, the better your odds at winning the prize!

The Drawing will take place December 1st. Winners will be notified by email or phone. To enter, pick up a brochure at the library, fill out the entry slips located in the back of the brochure, and return them to the 2nd Floor Information Desk.

Hearing Loop
Hearing Loop

The Library's meeting room is now equipped with a hearing loop to enhance the program experience for our patrons with hearing loss.

A hearing loop is an assistive listening system that transfers sound - from a microphone or TV - directly to your hearing device or cochlear implant, via a tiny and inexpensive telecoil (t-coil) receiver.

All cochlear implants and approximately 65% of hearing aids have a built in t-coil. To use the hearing loop, simply turn on your t-coil. (This t-coil program may need to be activated by your audiologist.)

The Library also has hearing loop headsets that may be helpful for persons who are hard of hearing or do not have a hearing aid equipped with a t-coil, but would still like to utilize the loop. The headsets can be checked out at the main desk before any program in the meeting room.

How is Your Internet Access?

The Wisconsin State Broadband Office is pleased to announce a survey that allows residents and businesses the opportunity to voice their need for improved internet access or service.

The goal of the survey is to help state planners and policy makers better understand the need for improved internet access in our state. Please call or go online to complete this brief survey.
