Jessica's bills started piling up.

Nicholas House was there to help.

Jessica works for rideshare and food delivery apps full time. She used to drive for Uber and Lyft, but since the pandemic she’s been doing strictly food delivery.

As a freelance driver, Jessica has the flexibility she needs to be there for her two kids. But that flexibility comes with stress and uncertainty. "I can’t be sure how much money I’ll get paid every month. Having an unreliable job takes a toll on me because I’m always trying to find a way to make ends meet!”

When Jessica’s car broke down and needed to be repaired, the bills started to pile up and she couldn’t pay her rent. Once her rent was overdue, her landlord evicted her. She and her two daughters lost their home and began to live in the car Jessica used for her job.

Luckily, Jessica was quickly able to move into the Boulevard Shelter. Jessica is still driving for rideshare and food delivery apps, but she is also working with her Nicholas House case manager to implement a plan for more stable employment.

Jessica and her family were recently able to move into a new apartment. She’ll keep working with her case manager to put her plan into action, continuing to search for for a more stable job while we help pay a portion of her rent for a few months.

Thanks to your support, Jessica now has less stress in her life and access to the guidance she needs to provide a more secure future for her family!

Gratefully,

Jannan Thomas
