Good Evening BBC Family,

A thought struck me when I got home tonight after our Bible study about Jesus being “The True Vine”.

Actually John 15:1-17 is not about Jesus the True Vine...it’s really a passage that causes me to ask: Am I a “true branch”?

A true branch “remains in the True Vine” through a parallel series of about ten Holy Spirit germinated points of attachment to constant contact with Jesus alive in the inner being of the human heart.

These points of attachment are vital.

A branch that rejects or neglects even one of these will achieve only a nominal sense of the fruitfulness of True Vine Christianity.

See the list above in my notes from the passage. Ask yourself if you have a constant vital attachment to Jesus by each of these points.

Are you a true branch? Are you withered? Are you bearing the fruit Christ-likeness in your life?

Look at the list again. Are you willing to “remain” in the True Vine by the Holy Spirit’s attachments so listed?

A true branch just looks like a natural extension of the Vine itself...it’s hard to tell where one begins and the other ends.

A true branch doesn’t try to become a branch...it becomes a branch by the natural effortless force of the life drawn up into it by its attachments.

Again look at the list. Will I “remain” in Jesus by these Holy Spirit germinated attachments or not?

Jesus is The True Vine: Will I be a true branch?

Thinking,
Pastor Dave
