Pendants, Pins, Rings, Lariats and More...

I love the luminous glow of gemstones and natural pearls and the shimmer and shine of silver and gold metals that have been worked and burnished by hand.

As a jewelry designer, I want every piece that I create to become more cherished the longer it is owned, handled worn and loved.

Beading Passion

Who: Sher Berman, Bead Artist
Deerfield, IL

I have a passion for beads. I create my own lampwork glass beads in my home studio and I do all the bead crochet from start to finish. I discovered my love of jewelry as a teenager. Each year, my high school hosted a "Focus on the Arts.” You could learn to use a camera, solder a ring or write a short story. I took all jewelry classes and was completely fascinated. That is when I knew I would use my creativity to make unique pieces.

Favorite Piece: I love my lariats.

Something Unexpected: Not too many beaders do the beading AND make their own lampwork glass beads.
Metalsmithing

Who: Gail Hefti, Metalsmith
Rubicon, WI

I have been a practicing metalsmith for more than 30 years and have my BFA and an MA in Metalsmithing. I work primarily in silver and the metal I use is chased, etched or roller printed by me. All of my designs are original and one-of-a-kind. I am drawn to natural materials and like to include Turquoise, Boulder Opal and Lapis in my work. I also incorporate pearls, ancient Roman glass, bone, horn, fresh water Biwa or Baroque pearls, red brass and copper.

Favorite Pieces: Base metal containers and rattles that I made during my graduate program.

Something Unexpected : I love vintage and have been actively going to antique and flea markets for 40 years and filling up my house.
Art must be an expression of love or it is nothing.”

Kim Koch Designs
As a kid, I loved to tinker and draw but I never thought of myself as an artist. In college, I took Art Metals 101 and never looked back.

My pieces typically start with natural gemstones as my color palette. I finish with complex surface treatments to enhance the beauty of the metal and define the shape.

You’ll find me, along with my life partner Mary, at this year’s Morning Glory Art Fair .
