Volunteer Opportunities at JFSC
Call 403-287-3510 or email.

Friendly Visitor - Over the phone
Three to 20 hours per week.
Many seniors in our community experience isolation and loneliness. Friendly Visiting is a meaningful way for yourself, a friend, or a loved one to give back to the community and make a difference in the life of a senior by exploring common interests, sharing experiences, and building connections through a phone call. Become a trained volunteer with JFSC and be personally matched with a senior in our community!

Food Pantry Volunteer
Three to four hours per week. Minimum six months commitment.
JFSC provides food hampers to individuals and families and is now an active participant of The SPINZ program which provides non-profit agencies with the opportunity to access non-perishable food items, fresh fruits, and vegetables for their clients. We need volunteers on Tuesdays from 9:00 to 10:00am. The volunteer will meet a JFSC staff member at the location by 8:30am to assist staff with picking out food items. The volunteer will then assist staff in transporting the food to JFSC and assist with unloading and sorting the food.

In-Home Memory Care Volunteers
Six to 20 hours per week. For September to December 31, 2020
Volunteers will engage with individuals experiencing memory loss (Alzheimers, Dementia) through a variety of activities to deliver brain boosting activities while providing respite opportunities for the caregiver. Volunteers are trained on the Best Friends Approach (Alzheimer Society) and are provided ongoing support, supervision, training and guidance.
Looking for Something Crafty to Do?
The Shawl-Om Project is an initiative by Jewish community members to create hand-crafted lap blankets and shawls to distribute to community members who would appreciate such a gift. Because of COVID-19, the project's launch has been delayed, but anyone interested in creating such a loving gift can get started now! We are looking for shawls and blankets that are quilted, knit, crocheted, etc. For further information on specifications for the items, please email Michele Doctoroff, call 403-238-2919, or go online.
