Are You Part of
The Sandwich Generation?
Caring for Growing Children and Aging Parents
|
The Jewish Women's Foundation (JWF) will host their annual community-wide "Let's Talk About It" event with this year's focus being on The Sandwich Generation. Join them for a candid conversation about what that is and ways to cope with this challenging and blessed stage in life.
|
• More than half of Americans in their 40s are
..'sandwiched' between an aging parent and their
..own children.
• Mothers in the "sandwich generation," ages 35-54,
..feel more stress than any other age group as they
..balance the demands of caring for growing children
..and their aging parents.

Three things that must change for San Diego to truly address homelessness
by Beth Sirull and Ollie Benn
|
The nonprofit Lucky Duck Foundation’s call last month for the city of San Diego to put up two tent shelters at Inspiration Point in Balboa Park — that could house about 500 homeless people, mostly seniors and youth — reflects a larger public debate: Should we focus on helping the people suffering on our streets today or invest in longer-term systemic solutions as the homelessness crisis continues to grow?

Climate change feels overwhelming.
Impossible for any one individual to tackle.
|
The Jewish Community Foundation is excited to introduce giv4 climate san diego, a new way to support local nonprofits having an impact on climate change in San Diego. After a five-month deep dive with climate experts, we curated a fund of nonprofits working on (1) immediate physical impact; (2) advocacy and justice impact; and, (3) educational impact.
|
With one donation, giv4 climate donors will be supporting eight impactful local nonprofits.
|
Each month, we will tell the story of one of these nonprofits and help donors understand the complexities of addressing climate change. Donors will have access to exclusive site visits, volunteer opportunities, and educational resources.
