What do we mean by the word "Occupation"? It turns out there are at least 3 different uses of the word, and they all reveal different understandings, attitudes, and end-goals. That's why all the arguments drive you crazy! This workshop pulls no punches about the realities on the ground: it aims to describe the situation, not to fix it: to understand the sides, not to take one. Registration will be available soon.
Through this grant we are hiring a Summer position. Application is open to students returning to School in September 2021. Many more jobs are currently posted on the Job Bank for those seeking any summer employment. See more
Your invitation to participate in the online 2021 Census will arrive in the mail on May 3rd. The Government of Canada uses census information to plan community programs and services related to employment, public transit, schools, hospitals, and more. If it is important to you to be counted as Jewish, then write “Jewish” in responding to Question 23, Question 30, or both! On question 23, which pertains to ethnicity, you can include multiple answers, for example “Russian” and “Jewish”. But please make sure to include Jewish. The Census is easy to fill out and is completely confidential. Make sure that your household is counted! Learn more
The Jewish Federations of North America
At least 45 were killed overnight in Israel’s worst-ever peace time tragedy, following a stampede during a Lag B’Omer celebration at Har Meron in the Galillee.
The Jewish Agency and JDC are working closely with relevant government agencies and social services to provide urgent assistance. This work is made possible through continuing support from Federations’ annual campaign. We remain in ongoing contact with them as well as with the Israel Trauma Coalition and will update you again if needed. Read more
