CRAFT AS ART -
Free Online FAMSF Docents Tour

MON, APRIL 27 • 10:30 AM

Online (Via Zoom)

Docents: Shelley Ford and Amy Chu Finkel

What do woven rugs made by nomads from Central Asia and the Middle East have in common with embroidered samplers made by European schoolgirls?

They are on our tour today! Woven rugs used for warmth and furniture, and embroidered samplers used as patterns and practice of needlework skills are considered to be crafts because they are functional objects. Some are so beautifully made they’re appreciated as artworks.

Please join us as we explore hand-woven rugs and hand-embroidered samplers from the collections of the FAMSF that are currently on display at the de Young Museum.
