The Heaven & Earth Grocery Store is a 2023 novel by James McBride about the interconnected lives of Black and Jewish residents in the Chicken Hill neighborhood of Pottstown, Pennsylvania, focusing on secrets, community, and love in the 1920s and 30s, which are uncovered in 1972 when a skeleton is found in a well.

The Jewish Federation of Omaha, in partnership with the FBI Violence Reduction Unit, is offering Active Shooter Attack Prevention & Preparedness (ASAPP) Training the evening of Monday, June 29th.

Training is free and open to the community. Registration is required. Experienced instructors will lead this carefully designed course and instruct without causing fear or apprehension. Please join us.

Returning to the powerful theme of ahava (love), Omaha’s Jewish community is proud to continue the tradition of marching in solidarity with our Jewish and LGBTQIA+ community on Saturday, July 18. Organized by the Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC) our annual participation reflects a deep, ongoing commitment to inclusion, allyship, and building bridges across our diverse community.

Tzedek Teens Volunteer Project

For our next Tzedek Teens project, we’ll be volunteering at Food Bank for the Heartland! During our time, volunteers will help pack food boxes, sort donated items, and portion bulk food into family-sized servings. This is a great opportunity to support families in our community while earning volunteer hours. Please register to join us—we hope to see you there!

Participants will receive a FREE SWAG bag and enjoy food while learning how to recognize and respond to antisemitism on campus.

Know a student headed off to college this fall? Help them start the semester informed, confident, and connected by signing up for Campus Connections. Each student will leave with a toolkit featuring resources, talking points, suggested actions, information about their rights, and a deeper understanding of antisemitism in the context of anti-Zionism. Whether they're incoming freshmen or returning students (at ANY college or university), Campus Connections will equip them with the knowledge and support they need to navigate campus life with confidence.
