Two rabbis, two equals, one synagogue
Orangetown Jewish Center’s Rabbis Craig Scheff and Paula Mack Drill talk about how they work and their families play together
There’s usually a hierarchy in shuls.
If a synagogue is big enough to have more than one clergyperson, there’s generally a senior rabbi, maybe an associate rabbi, and an assistant rabbi. Really big ones tend to have many rabbis on staff; some head education departments or work with young families. Interns are dispatched from rabbinical schools to learn as they work.
‘The Samuel Project’
Hal Linden plays Holocaust survivor in Rockland Film Festival
The Rockland Jewish Film Festival can thank director Steven Spielberg for the film “The Samuel Project,” which it will screen twice in the coming weeks.

The film tells the story of Samuel, a Holocaust survivor, played by “Barney Miller” star Hal Linden. Samuel tells his story to his grandson Eli, played by Disney Channel and Nickoledon star Ryan Ochoa, because Eli needs a subject for a school project

Rockland hospice walk is May 5
United Hospice of Rockland is teaming up with Coldwell Banker Cares to host its 10th annual Walk to Remember and the 30th George Wodicka Hook Half Marathon, 5K, & Kid’s Fun Run, on Sunday, May 5, at Rockland Lake State Park in Congers at 8 a.m.

Rockland trip planned to see freight car at NY museum
A German-made World War II-era Model 2 freight car was installed outside the Museum of Jewish Heritage — A Living Memorial to the Holocaust in lower Manhattan as part of the travelling exhibition called “Auschwitz. Not long ago. Not far away.” 

Honoring Lillian Adler in Rockland
The Holocaust Museum & Center for Tolerance & Education, Israel Bonds, JCC Rockland, Rockland Jewish Family Service, and Women’s Philanthropy at Jewish Federation & Foundation of Rockland County will honor Lillian Adler, z”l at this year’s Women’s Philanthropy meeting on Sunday, May 19, at 10 a.m., at the Rockleigh.
