‘You will not silence us’
Anti-Semitism is alive and well and thriving in Rockland County
By EVAN KARZHEVSKY

I am a secular Jew, and I live in the southern part of Rockland County.

I am the mother of three children and they all attended one of our local districts — one of them still does. Since they were small, they’ve had pennies thrown at them, been told they will burn in hell because they don’t believe in Jesus, and been told that Hitler missed them and they should have been put in ovens.

A summer campfire is one thing.

You probably lit it late at night, because it gets dark so late, and probably it’s still pretty warm out, because it’s summer. You’re with your friends, because who else would be with you at a campfire. You’re probably pretty relaxed, because, again, it’s summer. If you’re a kid, it’s summer vacation; if you’re an adult with kids, it’s their summer vacation; if you’re an adult without kids, well, it’s still summer.
