This Cold Already? Winter made an early appearance in Chicagoland, hitting us with a half foot of snow and wind chills in the teens over Thanksgiving weekend. I've been know to say, "winter builds character," but what happened to global warming? ❄️

The Future of Work? Lumen SEO, a 2000 start-up, lets its employees decide when and where they work, as long as they put in the required 32 hours a week. Founder Aled Nelmes wanted to improve retention by making this available. So work at home? Fine. Do you job at midnight? No problem. Log in from Tahiti? Bon voyage! ✈️

Cultured Leather? You've heard of Impossible Burgers. Get ready for "Impossible Wallets." Qorium, a Dutch biotech company, is producing cultivated leather grown in a lab from bovine cells. Some poor cows will need to go on unemployment. 🐄

Playoff Bound? After an 0 - 2 start, Da Bearz find themselves in 1st place in the NFC North. We've see a lot of improvement on both offense and defense but it's a tough division. Still a month of football left -- will they make the playoffs? Stay tuned. 🏈

War, Continued Israel 🇮🇱 and Ukraine 🇺🇦 continue their battles to establish peace in their countries. Global democracy is at stake here -- it matters to all of us. For humanitarian aid you can donate to the neutral International Red Cross here. ❤️

He's a Vietnam refugee who became a US Marine pilot, a top sales rep for a drug company and CEO of a medical startup. Don't bet against this underdog! 👍

Here Comes the Sun: A Last Chance for the Climate and a Fresh Chance for Civilization For those wondering how the renewable energy movement is progressing, here's an enlightening (pun intended) update from environmentalist Bill McKibben. 🌞

It's All Relative: Adventures Up and Down the World's Family Tree A.J. Jacobs takes a humorous look at how we're all related when he created the Global Family Reunion.

Powerfully Likeable: A Woman's Guide to Effective Communication Although this book is geared toward women, anyone can benefit from its many assertiveness tips.
