The weekend of February 22, 2013, Detroit's own cultural landmark, Jo's Gallery,  presents the internationally acclaimed artist WAK, Kevin A. Williams.

Williams is renowned as the best-selling artist in the African-American print market.  His collection of lithograph prints - created under the 'WAK Artistry" signature - is the most widely circulated urban fine arts series in the nation.

His art has been featured on television's "Law & Order" (NBC) AND "Soul Food" (Showtime).  Tens of thousands of people have included his work in their collections - from celebrity homes to small businesses, corporate offices and women's spas, Williams' original and lithograph artwork hangs from coast to coast.  He has also been commissioned by numerous corporations and private collectors including talk-show host Oprah Winfrey, The PGA, and the late actor/comedian Bernie Mac.

"I believe that my calling is more to the masses, to introduce them to art in a quality, creative, positive way," explains William.  "If they evolve into people who love art, and then start to collect art, I want it to be because something pure in my work caught their attention.  If that has happened - if they've fallen for the pure message in my work - then my mission is accomplished."

Get to know Williams Friday, through Saturday at a print signing and artist reception on Friday evening  from 6 -9 pm, at Jo's Gallery.  The next day, Williams will also lead an artist discussion on his evolution, Saturday, February 23, from 1-4 pm.
