Linda and Carol have been close friends for years and years. Linda began volunteering for Meals on Wheels 14 years ago when she retired. At the time, Carol was living out-of-state.
Carol moved back to Iowa City six years ago. According to Carol, “Linda told me I was going to deliver Meals on Wheels with her.” The two have done several different routes over the years. On one of their routes they had a client named Charlie. Charlie likes to call his volunteers “Charlie’s Angels.” He still does.
When Linda was asked why she started volunteering with Meals on Wheels her response was, “I wanted to do something useful when I retired. I enjoy doing something good and meeting good people that really need help.”
According to Carol, “I like delivering meals because I enjoy seeing people that can’t get out to do things and be with other people as much as I’m able to do.”
