The LAL Division of FUJIFILM Wako specializes in producing Limulus Amebocyte Lysate (LAL), a test reagent made from the extract of horseshoe crab blood cells, used for the detection of bacterial contamination in pharmaceuticals.
Seasonal Technician I & II
FUJIFILM Wako Chemicals U.S.A. Corporation is hiring seasonal production Technicians I & II to be responsible for performing duties at their Cape Charles Horseshoe Crab Bleeding Facility located in Cape Charles, VA. These positions are hourly, temporary positions beginning June 2018 and estimated to end in October 2018. The positions are physically demanding requiring individuals to constantly push, bend, stand, and lift a maximum of 30 lbs.
Duties
: May include but are not limited to the thorough inspection and cleaning of horseshoe crabs; repeated placement and removal of live horseshoe crabs from bleeding rack; continuous transport of racks to and from the bleeding area, and cleaning of the lab, office, and crab preparation room.
Additional responsibilities may include: perform aseptic bleeding of horseshoe and processing of blood cells; and daily preparation of sterile production equipment.
Requirements
: A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent is required. Relevant technical experience and/or education in a science related field is preferred. The facility's manufacturing procedures require strict aseptic practice to avoid cross contamination of the blood by environmental organisms. Good attendance, careful attention to detail, and the ability to precisely follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) is a must.
Hours:
Monday - Friday (June through October) 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. or as required
Pay Range
: $10.00 - $12.00 / hour
Potential conversion for temporary Seasonal Technician II to permanent full time status may be available.
