Job Opening - Education and Outreach Manager

Job Title: Education and Outreach Manager
Reports To: Executive Director
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Hours: Full time. Flexible schedule. Occasional evenings and weekends.


Summary: Under minimal supervision educates housing providers on the requirements of  fair housing laws and informs the community of fair housing rights and HOME services. Partners with various stakeholders to realize HOME’s overall mission of thriving, integrated communities. The successful candidate will have strong qualifications and be able to demonstrate a compelling commitment to Fair Housing, Civil Rights, client services, community engagement, social justice advocacy and/or related community development matters. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Develop fair housing seminars and workshops for public and private audiences in accordance with HOME’s mission to eliminate housing discrimination.

Conduct training on fair housing issues for:
a.      Real Estate Investors and landlords
b.      Property Management Staff
c.       New and Experienced Real Estate Agents
d.      Lenders
e.      Social workers, case managers, related professions
f.        Consumers
g.      Government Officials

Develop and oversee implementation of a comprehensive community education plan; to include cultivating in-person relationships with industry professionals, consumers and community leaders.

Conduct in-person seminars on fair housing rights and HOME’s programs in our service area of Hamilton, Butler and Clermont Counties. Regular area travel by car required.  

Strong project management skills including time management, curriculum development, grant management and grant reporting.

Excellent public speaking skills for small and large groups of adults. Uses technology to enhance  training, productivity and reporting.

Research and stay current on fair housing laws. Must have a strong understanding of local housing issues in frontline & marginalized communities.

Additional Responsibilities

Regularly attend the following meetings:
a.      HOME Staff meetings
b.      Housing Industry seminars with local and national partners.
           Performs other job-related duties as assigned.


Qualifications
Bachelor’s level degree or equivalent experience in the housing industry, communications or related field.  Advance degree and/or significant professional experience in community education, social work or a related field a plus.  Knowledge of housing issues and related laws. Knowledge of the theory and techniques of effective adult learning. Strong commitment to Fair Housing, inclusion and equity standards.  Strong interpersonal, social media, mobile phone apps, verbal communication, and writing skills. Proficiency in MS Office including Word, MS Mail/Exchange, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, AV communication software, and the Internet. Ability to effectively communicate with public and private housing industry professionals as well as housing consumers from a variety of backgrounds. Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and car insurance.
