Worker Shortage continues in Bakken
KUMV-TV - Mild winter weather in the Bakken has created an unusual uptick in January's jobs report. Williston's Job Service saw 1,185 openings for the month of January. Construction and extraction work rose 40 percent over the month while CDL transportation careers remain number one with a 20 percent increase. Paula Hickel with JobsND says out-of-state workers continue to move to the area as the average wage remains strong at $27 an hour. Read More

Williams County expects to release Study on K-12 Schools in March

News Release - Lead contractors for the Williams County Public School District Education and Collaboration Study confirm that a comprehensive report of findings is on track for a March release. The final report intends to provide insight about long-term solutions to the challenges of creating quality K-12 schools and opportunities for all students in Williams County. Read More
Equinor donates to STEM Educators
News Release -  Equinor, an energy company operating in the Williston Basin, is donating over $34,000 to educators promoting STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) education in McKenzie and Williams counties in North Dakota. Read More
API Chili Cook-off raises Funds for Scholarships, Community Programs
Williston Herald - Each year a couple dozen or so companies gather to put on what is one of the API’s biggest charity events, and a bright spot of fun to enliven winter. The proceeds are used for mini grants to worthy causes, from the Make a Wish charity, to veterans, cancer patients, and more, as well as to fund scholarships at Williston State College, Montana Tech, and University of North Dakota. McKenzie County Commission approves $5 Million to benefit Home Construction
McKenzie County Farmer - T he McKenzie County Board of County Commissioners has approved $5 million to help pay for infrastructure costs to jump start the construction of new single-family homes.
