Who's in Charge of Your Job Search????
Is it a head hunter, recruiter or online job board, or YOU?
Passive Job Search
1. Wait for a job to appear.
2. Wait to be discovered.
3. Use staffing and recruitment agencies.
4. Post your resume on sites such as Indeed,
Zip Recruiter and Glassdoor with all the other thousands of job seekers.
Active Job Search
1. Post, share and actively engage in LinkedIn.
2. Join networking groups online and in person.
3. Reach out to colleagues, business acquaintances.
4. Target job search-what does this mean?
Ask Yourself:
How do people get the jobs they want???
How long will you wait until your resume is noticed?
How many other individuals are posting their resumes on job boards?
How do I stand out? How do I get remembered?
How am I different from others?

Sharing a story--sometimes you aren't always the most qualified for the job. Sometimes you just have to be persistent, passionate and take chances. This was the case for the job I applied for at an adoption agency. In those days, there were ads I could answer. The title of the job and qualifications were not exactly matching for who I was. However, because it stated, "must love children" I applied. You are selling your skills, and though I had never been an office manager, I was able to convince this employer that I could do the job and that since I loved children, I was the perfect person for the job. I was hired and it was one of the best jobs I ever had.

*Use all of your networking connections --both online and in-person.
*Stand out on LinkedIn as an expert in your field--post and share with comments and to your groups.
*Write articles and share them with your contacts and groups.
*Target companies for whom you would like to work and connect --introduce yourself, do research about the company and go after a job you would be qualified for.
*Show your value - demonstrate how your skills would be valuable to the company and why you would like to work for them.
*Above all--do not worry about what other people think--do what you know is best for you--this is your career, your life and your job search.
I have used all of these strategies, and have been successful!
I never tell anyone to do anything that I have not done!!!
