1000 Books Before Kindergarten
1000 Books
Want to get your little one set for literacy success?
Get motivated to read to them more with the 1000 Books Before Kindergarten program.  Does 1000 books sound hard? Not really if you think about it. If you read just 1 book a night, you will have read about 365 books in a year. That is 730 books in two years and 1,095 books in three years. If you consider that most children start kindergarten at around 5 years of age, you have more time than you think.

Pick up a paper log to keep track, or use Beanstack to log your books online; you can also download the Beanstack Tracker app from Google Play or the App Store. Show your log at the library each time you reach 100, 200, 300, etc. to receive fun stickers and bookmarks. (But the real prize is a love of reading in your child!)
Rainbow Loom Kits & Leftover Crafts for Teens
Rainbow Loom
Stop by the Reader’s Advisory desk to grab your rainbow loom bracelet kit. While you’re there, check out the leftover craft kits from earlier this year.

Once they’re gone, they’re gone... so stop by the Help Desk at the library and choose some creative fun!

Book Clubs Kits
Is your neighborhood book club getting ready to ramp back up for fall? Did you know that the Library has two kinds of kits to support you?

  • At the library, you can find Traditional Book Club kits for checkout that come in a bag. The bag includes 10 copies of the book and a folder with study questions/conversation starters to get the meeting rolling.
  • Available online are e-Book Club Kits which provide support materials to help you guide a discussion of an e-book title. All e-book club kits are based on titles available on Hoopla, so there is no wait for the e-books to become available and all readers can read at once.

A list of available titles for both of these collections can be found on the BOOKS, MOVIES and MORE tab of our website. Happy reading!
