Job Seekers Can Now Earn More as a Substitute in the J.O. Combs Unified School District
SAN TAN VALLEY, ARIZ. - In order to attract and recruit substitute teachers, the J.O. Combs Unified School District has approved an increase in the daily pay, as well as an additional stipend, for those seeking a flexible, rewarding position as a substitute teacher.
Effective March 21, the daily rate for substitutes will be $140/day, and long-term substitutes will receive $155/day. In addition to the pay increase, the Governing Board also approved an additional incentive to retain dedicated substitutes who fill these critical positions and support students on a regular basis. This includes an additional $1000 stipend that will be available each semester to substitutes who work at least 75% of the days in that semester.
Applications for substitutes are accepted all year round, and requirements include the following:
- Valid Arizona Department of Education Teaching or Substitute Certificate (Options are available for those with a Bachelors Degree as well as those with a High School Diploma)
- Resume
- Three letters of reference (these may not be from family members)
- Valid IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
- Transcripts
