Jobless rate among the lowest

The unemployment rate in the Pittsburgh region remains one of the lowest compared with its benchmark peers.
With a seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in August of 6.8 percent, Pittsburgh is lower than the benchmark average of 7.1 percent.
Pittsburgh's unemployment rate decreased year-over-year by 0.5 percent but was slightly higher than the rate in July 2013 (6.7 percent).
The number of unemployed people in the Pittsburgh region decreased by 5.9 percent in August 2013 compared to August 2012.
The number of employed people increased year-over-year by 1.2 percent as did the total labor force, by 0.6 percent.
