FOCUS operates three licensed after-care programs in Newark, NJ.  We are looking for a part-time Site Supervisor, Group Leaders and Tutors.  The Site Supervisor is to administer the afterschool program which serves  85 children in grades 4-8.   The ideal candidate will have relevant experience working with school age children preferably in a leadership capacity. The Group Leaders are to instruct highly engaging academic enrichment activities and the Tutors serve as support staff.

 

We are looking for candidates with strong organizational and communication skills and who are energetic, responsible and love working with children.  

 

Responsibilities for Site Supervisor:

  1. Responsible for the daily operations and management of an after-school program;
  2. Plan developmentally appropriate and engaging daily activities;
  3. Provide staff supervision, development and guidance;
  4. Ensure compliance with administrative procedures and the Office of Licensing mandates and paperwork relative to Child Care programming;
  5. Conduct supervisory meetings with staff and provide guidance to strengthen performance;
  6. Facilitate parental outreach;
  7. Completing nutrition meal forms;
  8. Other duties as delegated; 

Reports to: Assistant Program Director

Hours: Ranges from 3p-7p (depending on site) Monday through Friday, plus meetings and staff development

 

Responsibilities for Group Leaders:

  1. To successfully incorporate the FOCUS 21CCLC vision and mission at the participating Schools.
  2. To work with the site team to design and deliver enrichment lesson plans and recreation activities.
  3. To improve learning and social skills and raise self-esteem and self-confidence, of the children, consistent with the policies and directives of the program.
  4. To develop and maintain a safe, supportive learning environment in which children thrive.
  5. To actively participate in staff development workshops that are designed to contribute to personal and professional growth.
  6. Ensure positive, measurable academic and social outcomes are being achieved.
  7. Provide ongoing opportunities for children to experience success.
  8. Maintain the safety of students.
  9. Assist in managing classroom operations, including preparing and completing reports.
  10. Actively participate in all training and staff support activities and workshops.
  11. Model good behavior with children, parents and staff.
  12. Perform related duties as assigned.

Reports to: Assistant Program Director

Hours: Ranges from 3:30p-6:30p (depending on site) Monday through Friday, plus meetings and staff development

 

Responsibilities for Tutors:

  1. Assist in planning and implementing the daily program under the direction of the Group Leader.
  2. Assist in planning and preparing the learning environment, setting up interest centers, and preparing needed materials and supplies.
  3. Supervise the classroom when the Group Leader is out of the room.
  4. Assist the Group Leader in other ways as requested.
  5. Maintain a professional attitude and loyalty to the Center at all times.
  6. Treat all children with dignity and respect.
  7. Attend all staff meetings and recommended training programs and conferences.
  8. Assist Group Leader with implementation of appropriate early childhood education experiences.
  9. Help Group Leader to supervise and promote activities designed to enhance the healthy emotional, social, intellectual, and physical development of children enrolled at the Center.
  10. Help to maintain a neat and organized classroom.
  11. Help children establish good habits of personal hygiene.
  12. Supervise all activities to ensure safety at all times.
  13. Report to Group Leader any problem which may occur with the children.
  14. Observe, record, and report on the behavior of individual children as assigned.
  15. Other tasks as requested
