Director's Corner
Greetings Jobs of Hope Family,
I trust you are fully enjoying your summer as June has seen some great temperatures (with some hail thrown if you live in Colorado!) and the start of the vacation season.
This edition marks our new print format, which will be quarterly. I would love your feedback on this new format. Even more, I would love for you to share this newsletter with friends and family so that they too can see the tremendous work happening at Jobs of Hope.
We have some great news to report! We will soon be approved by the Colorado Department of Justice to be a service provider for many of the services we already offer at Jobs of Hope. This recent development helps us solidify our efforts in providing all the resources our clients need as they progress through their case plans. Rather than working with Jobs of Hope as well as several other service providers, Jobs of Hope will now be able to provide mostly all court-mandated services to our clients.

As we move forward with summer plans, please make sure to include us in your prayers as well as financial support. The summer months can tend to see a lull in support, but the staff and Board of Jobs of Hope are moving ahead at full speed to see change and transformation in the lives of our clients.

I know where some great breakfast burritos are served! Every other Saturday morning, our clients gather at the House of Hope for a rousing and thought-provoking Bible study group and also get to eat some great breakfast burritos, compliments of Alberto’s Express in Greeley. Cisco Davila (who also coordinates our Men of Valor Life Skills Class) brings our clients together to read and study the Bible. Cisco delivers a quick devotion that meets our clients where they are. God’s Word addresses issues of security, anxiety, trust, relationships, and faith. These are all issues that our clients sometimes struggle with, but looking to the Bible to see what God has to say about an issue is the key. Ultimately, the Saturday Fellowship group brings our clients together to see that Christ is the answer to transformation. Only Christ can provide salvation and change lives!
Often Cisco will bring in guest speakers, such as former clients and local pastors. It’s always a treat to host these visitors so that they can pour into our men, and they can also see the great work that is happening at Jobs of Hope. For some of our clients, they may not want to or feel comfortable stepping into a formal church setting. Saturday Fellowship provides all our clients with a place where they can meet, uplift each other, pray for each other, and hear a quick devotion straight from God’s Word.
Please continue to pray for the Gospel to go forth at Saturday Fellowship, and that God will continue to provide the financial support needed to keep Saturday Fellowship going!

Ok, men, I’m talking to you this month. We recently celebrated Father’s Day and many individuals and families honored and celebrated their dads. Others didn’t have that opportunity. It is proven that fathers have a significant and profound impact on their children…whether present in the home or not. The positive impact of a father’s involvement in the lives of their children is obvious but what about those men whose dads are gone? What about those who have walked out or given up on their families? Those who want no part of being a father, or maybe they are incarcerated and physically cannot be there? What does that influence look like?
The National Fatherhood Initiative has stated in their findings that one in four American homes have children who are living without a father. That includes biological fathers, stepfathers, or adoptive fathers. One in four with no dad. Let that sink in. It is a staggering statistic. Also, upwards of 85% of children who have no father present in their lives become involved in criminal activity. In addition, up to 90% of young runaways and homeless children in our country come from fatherless homes.

This is a national crisis. I believe that there is no more important time in history than right now, for men to step up into fatherhood and be the man their families and particularly their children need so badly. If you haven’t had a role model in your life to know what a father needs to do or what fatherhood looks like don’t fear. We were made for this.
In Psalms 68:5 David wrote that God is a “father to the fatherless and a protector of the widows.” You can be an awesome father even if you didn’t have that experience as a child. God can fill that void and show you through His word what it means to be an incredible father. My dad is that man. You see, his dad left the family when my dad was in his early teens. My dad didn’t have a father role model…or much of a father at all. I watched my dad over the years as he was leaning into doing the best that he could with what he knew. He sought help from God every step of the way. He wasn’t perfect and certainly messed up in his fathering. However, the best part was that my dad was consistent, persistent, purposeful, honest, faithful and he loved his family. We are all capable of executing those simple yet profound attributes.
Let’s be sure to “up our game” of fatherhood. Whether you are an old pro, or just beginning your fatherhood journey let’s be worthy of this honor that is bestowed upon us as fathers. Also, don’t forget to thank and honor those who have fathered us…including our Heavenly Father. This faithful pursuit of fatherhood will create a better future for generations.

Driving Change
This month, we were thrilled by an incredible car show organized by Ashley Duran Garcia, a senior at University High School, as her senior project. Inspired by the support we provided to her brother in finding a job, Ashley dedicated her efforts to hosting this event as a fundraiser for Jobs of Hope.
