Beginning July 1, 2024, Jodie Mills will serve in the new position of Deputy Superintendent of Learning, a role that will replace the Chief Academic Officer position that Ms. Mills currently holds.
Ms. Mills brings an extensive level of demonstrated and relevant executive leadership experience, having successfully served Idaho students for 33 years. She began her career as a paraprofessional and a teacher, and then served in multiple school, district and state executive leadership roles:
- Chief Academic Officer (2023 to present, Boise School District)
- Administrator of Teaching & Learning (2021 to 2023, Boise School District)
- Chief Academic Officer (2012 to 2021, Caldwell School District)
- Education Solutions Manager (2011-2012, SchoolNet, Inc.)
- Systems Improvement Coordinator (2009-2011, Idaho State Department of Education)
- High School Principal (2007-2009, Cassia County School District)
- Director of Testing, Data Analysis & Technology (2004-2007, Cassia County School District)
- Director of Federal Programs & Assessments (1999-2004, Minidoka County School District)
- Assistant Principal (1997-1999, Minidoka County School District)
- Science/PE Teacher (1991-1999, Minidoka County School District)
As Boise School District’s Deputy Superintendent of Learning, Ms. Mills will work with our District’s Executive Leadership Council to provide leadership and support to teachers, principals, and other school leaders to ensure that our District provides a high-quality comprehensive educational experience for each and every student.
Ms. Mills will play a key leadership role in implementing, managing and monitoring our District’s Student-Focused Learning Model, which is founded on the core belief that each and every student can and will learn when provided adequate opportunities, support and resources. Specifically, Ms. Mills will oversee the areas of Academics, Teaching & Learning, Student Supports, Student Services, School Leadership, as well as work on developing our District’s Graduate Profile.
In addition, Ms. Mills will be responsible for managing budgets, allocating resources, and evaluating the effectiveness of academic programs.
Ms. Mills earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education from Western Montana College, a Masters of Education degree in Education Administration from the University of Idaho, and an Education Specialist degree in Education Leadership/Superintendency from the University of Idaho.
