Dear Steve,
Have you met Joe? He’s been a mainstay on Campus since the gates first opened in 2005. Back then, Joe was used to living life on the edge.
“Then Campus came, and there was space for us,” says Joe.
Previously unhoused in the very neighborhood around Key Campus, Joe found his footing here—first as a grateful client, then as a volunteer determined to keep himself on track.
“I knew if I didn’t stay busy, I’d get into trouble,” he laughs. “Volunteering on Campus kept me moving forward.”
Today, he’s a full-time team member, providing vital supportive services in the Key Campus post office. Joe runs a tight ship, knows many clients by name, and takes every opportunity to provide encouragement along the way to others who are facing their own struggles.
His connection to the Campus makes him passionate about keeping the lights on until homelessness ends. “We see everything that goes on,” Joe says. “We need big checks, haha, from people who care. No, seriously!”
Joe’s story proves that second chances are real—and they’re powered by compassionate supporters and advocates like you. See Joe in action below...
