Mr. Huggins is an Senior Executive, Entrepreneur, Consultant and Business Coach with solid leadership, business, program management, strategic planning, and business development and collaboration skills. He has over 35 years of experience in the Telecommunications and Information Technology industry; with over 15 years of experience of starting and leading small business enterprises. Mr. Huggins has spent over 7 years providing business operations and business development consulting support to small and medium sized businesses. Mr. Huggins is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP); with over 18 years of technology program/project management experience. He is beginning his fourth year as an Instructor for the Washington District Office Small Business Administration’s Emerging Leaders Program; where takes twenty (20) business owners through a 7-month intensive executive entrepreneurship training series.
Mr. Huggins began his career in the U.S. Air Force, involved in the project management, acquisition, operations, and maintenance of computer centers, telecommunications facilities and cable infrastructure systems around the world. Mr. Huggins retired from the U.S. Air Force after 21 years of service. Since then he has founded and co-founded several technology businesses; forming his first company in 1995. In 2010, Mr. Huggins founded Broadband Connect, LLC, which provides technology consulting, design, installation and maintenance support for voice, data, video cable infrastructures and last-mile fiber and wireless broadband networks. His company has also conducted cable technician workforce training at Prince George’s Community College. He recently co-founded Last Mile Broadband LLC; whose mission to bring affordable high-speed Internet access to rural, underserved and unserved communities throughout the State of Maryland.
Mr. Huggins has a history of dedication to the non-profit community and economic development. Mr. Huggins has over 10 years of board governance experience and has successfully led and/or participated in the vision and strategic direction of several financial, business, technology, economic development, community and military-oriented non-profit organizations. He was recently chosen to serve as Chairman of Board for the Southern Maryland Minority Chamber of Commerce.
Mr. Huggins has received National, State and local personal and business awards, including the selection as the Minority Enterprise Advocate Magazine – 2017 Telecommunications Executive of the Year.
Mr. Huggins holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering Technology, a Master of Arts in Computer Resource Management; an MBA; and a Certificate in Innovation Management, from the University of Maryland, Robert H. Smith Business School.
