Clerk’s Report
The Session of John Knox Presbyterian Church met on Sunday, December 15, 2024, at 11:15 AM in the Fellowship Hall for their monthly Stated Meeting. The following are a few of the items discussed:
Administrative
1. The monthly financial reports were reviewed.
Christian Education
1. The fourth Women’s Faith and Fellowship Dinner will be on January 9 with Donna Dowling offering a Devotional.
2. The Youth Ministry completed their study of Psalms and are planning for their spring activities. They had a service project for Greer Relief on December 8.
3. The High School Retreat at Montreat will be January 10-12.
4. Tami’s report from Kindergarten and PDO was reviewed.
Evangelism
1. The Hospitality Outreach, including the Bread Delivery, Welcome Notes, and are all going well.
2. The ‘Finding Your Way @ JK’ class will meet in the Kirk Room on February 2, 2025.
3. The photo directory updates are a continuing effort. Today they got head shots of the new Elders.
4. They are doing intergenerational multimedia video clips for JK social media.
Nurture
1. College Care was a big emphasis this month. They sent out packages to eighteen of our college students.
2. The Quilters are still busy working on quilts for western North Carolina.
3. Side By Side is going well. They will have volunteer training on January 28.
Property & Operations
1. The shingle work/roofing repair is done.
2. The metal Gym roof will start when the kids are out of school.
3. The water leak has been repaired and the bill has dropped dramatically.
4. The big playground has been repaired.
Children’s Ministry – Susan Felton
1. The Parents Night Out on December 13 had twenty-two children participating.
2. The children will sing at the 5 PM Service on Christmas Eve.
Rev. Justin Cazel
1. The Generosity Team will meet next in January.
2. The Men’s Fellowship Dinner on December 12 had a robust turnout with twenty attendees.
Dr. Gordon Turnbull
1. Explained the APNC process and how the search would progress.
2. Went over the training schedule for the new Elders.
3. The new Elders each spoke on their Faith Walk, were examined, and approved as ready for service.
4. The Elders for 2025 will be getting their committee assignments during the next few weeks.
