Church-Wide Mission Project
for Vacation Bible School
As part of our Vacation Bible School Ministry at John Knox, we feel it is important to teach our children that we are called by God to show God’s love by helping others. Each year, we choose a mission to support, and we invite our whole congregation to join us in our mission project.
For this year’s mission focus, we will be raising funds to support the ongoing relief work in North and South Carolina after the devastating damage from Hurricane Helene and the more recent wildfires. The money we collect will be given to Presbyterian Disaster Assistance, which enables congregations and mission partners of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) to witness to the healing love of Christ through caring for communities adversely affected by crises and catastrophic events.
We will be asking our VBS children to bring in coins (pennies, nickels, dimes, & quarters – dollars too!) each day during VBS as we collect money towards these relief efforts. We would like to invite our congregation to take part in this project as well. We will have a container set up in the Narthex on Sunday, June 8. If you would like to donate to the Presbyterian Disaster Assistance relief fund, you are invited to throw your change (or dollar bills!) in the container. Checks to the church are also welcome. Please make checks payable to John Knox Presbyterian Church. (note in memo line - VBS Mission) There is also a tab on our John Knox App where you can donate.
We are excited to invite everyone to help in this very important mission work as we help our neighbors recover from such devastating events. Thank you, in advance, for supporting our effort and for helping to teach our children that we can all make a difference!
