The committee has been quite busy and made good progress toward identifying a potential bridge and/or transitional pastor. Since our last update we have completed the following tasks.

·  Completed interviews with current JK staff members

·  Completed position description for JK Transitional Pastor and posted through Foothills Presbytery website for nationwide search of potential candidates

·  We have begun receiving qualifications of potential candidates

·  We have completed phone interviews of some of the potential candidates and their references

·  We will begin face to face interviews of candidates this month

We ask that you continue to keep our committee and our church in your prayers as we ask God to help us in our search for a transitional pastor.

Our neighbor, Lake Forest Elementary School, is in desperate need of canned goods and other shelf stable items to continue their weekly program that sends backpacks of food home with kids in need. Please donate items in the Narthex and the office building as soon as you are able.

Merry early Christmas from the Angel Tree Ministry! This year our Angel Tree Ministry will once again focus on providing gifts for Greer Relief's Christmas Morning Shoppe. This program is a big hit with the parents and guardians who participate. They earn RENEW Rewards throughout the year through their participation in Greer Relief’s many engaging opportunities to learn on a variety of topics (wellness, budgeting, job skills, crafts, and others). Empowerment and dignity come with the ability to earn rewards and then use those rewards to shop for your own family. Join us as we partner with Greer Relief this season to help our neighbors in need make strides toward self-sufficiency.

There are two wonderful ways to participate in the Angel Tree this year. You can simply use Greer Relief’s Amazon wish list for the Christmas Morning Shoppe to purchase gifts (which can be sent directly to Greer Relief’s Christmas Morning Shoppe or dropped off at the church office). This year you can take an ornament (made by our friends at Side by Side Respite) off of the tree in the Narthex. It will have a QR code to access the Amazon Wish List on the back. Or, you can make a donation to John Knox Presbyterian Church, earmarked for the Angel Tree (cash, check, or through the John Knox app). We will purchase gifts and gift cards with the donations we receive.

The deadline for monetary donations is December 1; any gifts must be turned in by December 7the earlier, the better! So, get clicking:  Amazon!  If you have any questions, please contact Jessica Bixler.

Join us on Thursday, December 11, at 6 pm for a night of Christmas Fellowship and a very fun and meaningful service project. Village Wrench is a bicycle ministry that provides bikes, free mechanic services, biking classes and mentorship programs. They are located in the West Village and are tightly involved in that community. A bicycle can represent different things to different people. To one person, it might be a way to get to work. To another, it might be a way to get to school or a friend’s house. To someone else, it might be a confidence building skill that they might have never experienced without Village Wrench. John Knox Men’s Ministry is going to be providing 4 brand new bikes for people who are the beneficiaries of their ministry. These are high quality bikes, built to last and provide many years of steady service. The best part, we will have some Village Wrench folks join our party so we can put the bikes together. No prior skill required, and they bring the tools! You are not only providing the bikes financially, but you are also using YOUR HANDS to put them together. Walter Robinson has graciously offered his home for us to enjoy each other’s company and put together a few bikes! Come join us!
