Help Us Celebrate Your Serving

You care about important things, and we know that you are making a difference in our community. Would you share with us where and how you serve? We want to celebrate and share all the ways that John Knox members are serving in our community.

Please take a few moments to complete the brief survey below. Think broadly as you answer: room mother, mentor, youth sports coach, Scout Leader, board member of a non-profit, civic club, and others. A clear picture of all the ways our members serve will help us understand our reach and encourage one another in our faithful work.

Together we are on a mission from God. Thanks for all you are doing!

Worship Support Opportunities

Are you looking for a way to contribute your time and talent at John Knox? While there are many volunteers and contributors that make our Sunday worship meaningful, there are three areas in which more working hands would be helpful: Guardians, Sound Technicians, and Ushers.

Guardians provide safety and support by monitoring our video system and grounds during services.

Sound Technicians help to make sure that our sound system is monitored and adjusted as needed during services.

Ushers serve as the first face many see as they arrive at John Knox. They help set up for worship (Sunday Worship and Memorial and Funeral services), greet and give direction to attendees, distribute bulletins and reset the worship space upon the service's conclusion.

No prior experience is required for any of these positions and training will be provided.  All of these positions work on a rotating schedule so the frequency of need depends on how many individuals can help.

Please prayerfully consider and submit the form below to let us know of your interest!

There is a John Knox Small Group for you!

Anchor Groups are a new way to connect with members of our church family while studying God's Word in small groups.

What is an Anchor Group?

An Anchor Group is a gathering of church members for Bible study and fellowship. An intergenerational Bible study will be provided weekly for each Anchor Group. These groups are not intended to replace any small group that you are already participating in at John Knox. They are an additional way we can gather and delve into the Scriptures to grow together as disciples of Jesus Christ.

How do I sign up for an Anchor Group?

Tuesday Evening Women’s Bible Study

John Knox’s Tuesday evening women’s Bible study begins an inductive study of Luke’s gospel on Tuesday, September 20 in the Parlor from 7:00-8:30 p.m. The doors to the Narthex will be open, so park in the lot next to the Sanctuary.  We typically gather twice a month to dig deeply into God’s word, to share our hearts, and to encourage one another as we grow in faith. The only criteria for joining us are an open heart, a study bible, and no Y chromosome. When we meet next Tuesday, we’ll do an introduction to the Gospel of Luke and to the inductive method of studying God’s word. Mark your calendar as well for future meeting dates: October 11 and 25; November 1, 15, and 29; and December 13. We look forward to having new members join us—if you have any questions, please contact Kathie White or Betsy Turnbull.

Menu:  Walnut & rosemary oven fried chicken breasts with macaroni & cheese and green beans with garlic bread and house cookies.

The John Knox Knitters are back!

If you have knitted or crocheted with us in the past or would like to find out what we are about then please join us for an informal meeting on September 21 following the Wednesday night meal/program. We will plan our projects and determine the best time to meet. We look forward to the fellowship and time to craft together again.

Call or text to Debbie Smith for further information.

2022 Congregational Nominating Committee

Serving this year as our Congregational Nominating Committee are the following members: from the Session, Cannon Bixler and Tommy Dowling; from the Youth Fellowship, Sophie deMaine; and from the congregation at large, Heidi Grant, Kemper Kenan, Anna Cain-Robinson and Muffy Smith.

Thank you for your participation in this important process. Please pray for our Congregational Nominating Committee and for those leaders whom God will raise up for our church’s ministry.
