Copies of Sacred Earth Sacred Soul: Celtic Wisdom for Reawakening to What Our Souls Know and Healing the World will be available for sale at all three events. There will only be a book signing at Friday evening’s event at St. Stephen’s.

A Dappling Light

Friday, October 27 | 7-9 p.m. | St. Stephen's Episcopal Church

John Philip Newell will share his own spiritual journey in relation to the great search for new beginnings today. 


The event will take place in the main church at St. Stephen’s (6000 Grove Avenue, Richmond, Virginia 23226). Parking is available in the large lot next door, accessible by either Grove Avenue or Somerset Avenue. Street parking is also available. All parking is free. Seating in the church is first come, first serve. A dessert reception and book signing will follow in the adjacent parish house. Books may be purchased onsite. Please contact the Rev. Sacred Earth, Sacred Soul

Saturday, October 28 | 9 a.m.-noon | St. Paul's Episcopal Church

(arrive by 8:30 a.m. to check in)

This morning of teaching and spiritual practice with John Philip Newell and his colleague Cami Twilling will explore the main themes of his award-winning book Sacred Earth Sacred Soul: Celtic Wisdom for Reawakening to What Our Souls Know and Healing the World.


This event will take place in Scott Hall, the parish hall located on the first floor of the Parish House. Free parking is available in St. Paul’s parking garage located off 8th Street (111 N 8th Street). The doors to the gathering space and the main elevator will open at 8:30 a.m. The main elevator is accessible at the center of the parking garage; you may also enter the parish house from Grace Street. Hebridean Treasure: Lost and Found

6:30-8:30 p.m. | First Presbyterian Church

A screening of the film version of this live stage performance will include time for reflection and conversation.


The screening will take place in the sanctuary. An elevator is available at the parking lot entrance for those with mobility issues. Doors will open at 6 p.m. Free parking is available in the parking lot behind the church (4602 Cary Street Road). Street parking is also available around the church. Please contact the Rev.
