the Rhodes Brothers
John takes us through the early years as their vocals blended so well they tried singing at a neighborhood tavern on a tiny stage. It shortly grew into lines around the corner as locals flocked to see and experience their act. Combining original comedy, dance moves, audience inter-action and of course their vocal talent, the brothers knew they had a 'hit'. It was on to national fame! Their involvement with Chuck Zink and the Jerry Lewis telethon cemented their legacy as fundraisers
In this video, John performs at a special event
As their fame grew on television, night clubs around the country they had a crack at their own club in Miami. It highlights a career choice that brought packed houses whenever they took the stage. Their stint at Miami's Merchandise Mart showed their staying power with wall to wall shows. Special guests like the Miami Dolphins added more word of mouth and the brothers were In demand! They performed with many national acts including Alan King, Bob Hope, The Jackson Five, Dom Deluise, John Davidson and the Lovin' Spoonful.
