Johnson County Employers Key to Student Career Readiness

 Workforce development remains a top priority, not only for Johnson County’s existing employers but also for the companies we aim to attract. Recently, Brian Knight, Director of Secondary Education for Perry Township Schools, shared an overview with our Economic Development Advisory Council about Indiana’s new high school diploma requirements and the growing role local employers will play in providing work-based learning opportunities. His presentation highlighted the numbers and illustrated the shifting landscape of how students will prepare for future careers.

Greenwood’s Smith Valley Road Roundabout Construction Nearing End

Construction on the two new roundabouts near Greenwood Community High School is nearing completion after several months of work. The project featuring roundabouts at Smith Valley and Averitt roads, and at Smith Valley Road and Woodmen Way, began in late July and is now expected to wrap up in early to mid-November. As part of the project, a sculpture previously leased by the City of Greenwood for the Art on the Trail event was purchased and permanently relocated inside the nearly completed roundabout at Smith Valley and Averitt roads.
