As of March 25, Johnson County has:
44,070 positive cases of COVID-19 (increase of 38 since yesterday)
2.8% percent positive, 14-day average
74 incidence rate, number of new cases/100K persons, over prior 14 days, (no change since yesterday)
639 deaths (1 additional death since yesterday)
236,946 individuals tested negative (increase of 411 since yesterday)
42,383 presumed recovered (increase of 59 since yesterday)

Positive cases represent those reported to the Johnson County Department of Health and Environment by physicians, private laboratories, hospitals and the Kansas Department of Health and Environmental Laboratories. Presumed Recovered are surviving individuals not hospitalized and more than 30 days since symptom onset. These numbers are not representative of the total number of individuals with COVID-19 in Johnson County. All data is provisional and subject to change.

NEW: Johnson County approves new health order
|
|
|
|
Today, the Board of County Commissioners approved a new Public Health Order proposed by Local Health Officer Joseph LeMaster, M.D., and Johnson County Health and Environment Director Dr. Sanmi Areola. It includes requirements for physical distancing in public spaces and the wearing of face masks. The order is effective from 12:01 a.m. on Friday, March 26, through 11:59 p.m., on April 30, 2021.
The BOCC also approved the establishment of COVID-19 community goals. If the following goals are achieved by the end of April, public health mitigation strategies in Johnson County will move from orders and mandates to “strong recommendations.”
Those goals include:
- At least 50% of eligible Johnson County residents have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine.
- The number of new cases per 100,000 residents is less than 50.
- The Percent Positivity Rate remains below 5%.

NEW: BOCC addresses pandemic and virtual commission meetings
|
|
|
|
In addition to the above-mentioned action taken on the public health order, the Board of County Commissioners decided to continue meeting virtually, but also made plans to transition back to in-person meetings.

NEW: State of the County will be held virtually, March 30
|
|
|
|
This year’s State of the County address will be held virtually due to the pandemic.
The Johnson County Public Policy Council and the Chairman of the Board of Johnson County Commissioners, Ed Eilert, cordially invite you to attend the 2021 State of the County address on Tuesday, March 30.

10:45 a.m. Pre-address presentation featuring Chambers of Commerce leadership and a highlight of current development projects in Johnson County cities.

11 a.m. Introduction by Lenexa Chamber of Commerce Board Chair Laura Baldwin followed by Johnson County Board of County Commissioners Chairman Ed Eilert’s 2021 State of the County address.

The University of Kansas Health System provides daily updates on how COVID-19 is impacting our health care system and community.
On the Thursday, March 25 episode, Keith Sale, M.D., the health system's vice president of ambulatory, and family medicine physician Jennifer Woodward, M.D., talked about long haulers. Dr. Woodward is seeing success with COVID-19 patients managing their illness by monitoring their oxygen levels at home. She explained that work and what it means for patients.
