As of June 16*, Johnson County has:
46,580 positive cases of COVID-19 (increase of 71 since June 9)
1.5% percent positive, 14-day average
27 incidence rate**, number of new cases/100K persons, over prior 14 days (increase of 1 since June 9)

261,104 individuals tested negative (increase of 1,497 since June 9)
45,616 presumed recovered (increase of 131 since June 9)

*Note as of May 18: Due to substantial delays in laboratory reporting from some hospital facilities, additional cases have been added that will affect the number of cases reported in the last 14 days, cases per 100k persons, and the graph “New cases by date”. To view cases of COVID-19 reported in Johnson County by date of lab collection instead of by date reported to JCDHE, see the graph “Cases- Date Lab Collected” on our dashboard.

**Incidence rate is directly related to the number of cases in the community. Cases have decreased, therefore our incidence rate has decreased. You can also see our testing numbers dropping on the Testing & Percent Positive Rates tab.
Positive cases represent those reported to the Johnson County Department of Health and Environment by physicians, private laboratories, hospitals and the Kansas Department of Health and Environmental Laboratories. Presumed Recovered are surviving individuals not hospitalized and more than 30 days since symptom onset. These numbers are not representative of the total number of individuals with COVID-19 in Johnson County. All data is provisional and subject to change.

NEW: State of Kansas COVID-19 emergency declaration expires
On Tuesday, June 15, the Legislative Coordinating Council let the Kansas COVID-19 emergency declaration expire at the end of the day. The order had been in place for 15 months.

On Monday, June 14, Gov. Laura Kelly pulled seven of the nine remaining executive orders, leaving two in place related to vaccinations and COVID-19 testing. Her request had been that the legislature extend the disaster declaration until July 15 with a goal of closing out operations by Aug. 30.

The impact to Johnson County government is being monitored. The county’s local declaration remains in place. This is consistent with recommendations from the state and the majority of counties in Kansas are continuing with their local declarations while COVID-19 response continues. Having counties keep local disaster declarations in place protects emergency management activities as well as actions of emergency responders including health departments and medical staff.
NEW: Under a month left to renew driver's licenses or I.D. cards that expired March 2020 to March 2021
Do you have a Kansas driver's license or I.D. card that expired sometime between March 2020 and March 2021? You'll need to renew it before June 30. The COVID-19 extension for these credentials is expiring due to Senate Bill 127.

As of June 1, 45,000 Kansans still needed to renew their credentials.

Certain people can take advantage of online renewals, though. These mobile renewals are open to Kansans between the ages of 21 and 64 who have had a vision test within the past year and whose license is up to one year before or after expiration. Visit this link to access the online platform, or download the iKan app.

If you need or want to visit in person, walk-ins are welcome, but appointments are encouraged. Find out more about making an appointment here.

Please note: Driver's licenses are not a function of Johnson County Government.
