Companies considering locating in a new city typically hire consultants to determine whether a possible site would meet their needs. This is the first installment in a series of articles about economic development efforts in Johnson County. Future installments will deal with business attraction, retention and expansion as well as community development. Read about the site selection process and how it works.

Johnson County is participating in a regional effort to make strategic investments, attract talent and grow the economy. This regional group, called 180 Alliance, will apply for funding to complete projects and implement programming through the Indiana Economic Development Corporation’s Regional Economic Acceleration and Development Initiative (READI). The plan being submitted by 180 Alliance includes six goals aimed at allowing businesses and future residents the opportunity to explore the region when deciding where to settle, leading to long-term sustainable growth for all the counties involved. Learn more from the Daily Journal and 180 Alliance.

The Indiana Association of Public School Superintendents has named Dr. David Clendening the 2022 Indiana Superintendent of the Year. The association credits Clendening with levering business partnerships and community support to boost programs and funding after significant revenue losses due to Indiana’s property-tax circuit breaker law. Clendening, who has been with the school system since 2009, will now be a competitor for the American Association of School Administrators National Superintendent of the Year Program. Learn more about Dr. Clendening’s accomplishments in the article from Inside Indiana Business. Congratulations, Dr. Clendening!
