Join CAN's Board of Directors!

CAN is looking for Board Members to help guide our agency toward success. This is a great opportunity for those seeking to get involved or give back to the community while offering their expertise.

Board Members attend board meetings quarterly, sit on at least one committee, and give to CAN an amount that is significant to you. We are looking for folks who have a background in one of the following areas: ties to the neighborhoods we serve, mental health, legal, fundraising, policy and government affairs, and/or education.

Learn more about the opportunity here. Email Derrick Miller at dmiller@canwashtenaw.org and Emily Twanmo at etwanmo@canwashtenaw.org to apply today!

Check out some updates from the month of February!

At GBC, we are gearing up to start cooking classes with the community! Participants will engage in classes led by Mary Balog, RDN, of Mary B. Wellness, LLC, and will take home ingredients for the recipe to try it themselves!

At Creekside, we are getting ready to host a mom's pampering event to show our Creekside community mothers just how special they are.

In the Bryant neighborhood, we are celebrating more sustainability success! We connected with a neighbor whose fridge broke and due to many factors, the household was unable to afford a new one. In addition to some other sustainable upgrades, CAN was able to obtain a new fridge for them so that they have reliable and safe food storage that they need. Additionally, we are welcoming a new family to our Bryant Afterschool Program!

Arrowwood and Hikone are seeing some educational wins - our Arrowwood Hills director, LaTanya Burrell, shared how exciting it was when students ran into ASP to tell her they had made the honor roll! And in partnership with our Director of Behavior Health, Kayla Smyrnis, a behavior plan at Hikone is off to a great start, allowing all our participants to get the most out of academic and enrichment time.

Last but not least, we are getting a new fridge at Brick for the food pantry thanks to our amazing partner Food Gatherers. This will allow us to store more food for longer which means more food to families!
