We are also working with child care providers across the state to strengthen their capacity to re-open safely. Our child care industry was greatly impacted by this pandemic. Many of these centers were already struggling prior to COVID-19, and impediments to their efforts to provide their much-needed services have increased exponentially. Some providers are working on safety plans, while others have been serving at half capacity to support essential workers. Efforts are being made to offer providers safety protocols to allay parents’ concerns about returning their children to child care centers. However, there remains much work to be done to restore confidence among our base and supporters. Truth is, we all need each other in order to advance improved systems that will allow our communities to survive, with distant hopes of eventually thriving.
