NSO is excited to partner with the Shumake Family Foundation and other community partners across Detroit for this year’s Holiday Harvest. This annual tradition is officially back and helps ensure families have what they need as they head into the holidays. We're hoping to feed more than 1,000 individuals, so if you or someone you know is in need, please join us on Monday, December 22nd, from 10 AM – 3 PM at Bert’s Marketplace located at 2727 Russell St., Detroit, MI 48207.

We’re also looking for volunteers to help make the day run smoothly and feel welcoming for every family who attends. Whether you can join us on December 21st for setup or December 22nd for the main event, your support will make a huge difference.

There are lots of ways to help, unloading and organizing groceries, setting up stations, greeting guests, handing out food, guiding lines, or helping with cleanup. You can choose the roles and time slots that work best for you, and no experience is needed.

If you’ve volunteered at significant events before, we’d love to hear about it so we can place you where your skills shine.

If volunteering on Sunday, December 21st — Setup Day, the available shifts are:

  • 10AM–1PM (Setup, sorting, prep work)
  • 1PM–4PM (Setup, bag packing, layout prep)
  • 4PM–7PM (Final prep, organizing stations)
  • All Day

If volunteering on Monday, December 22nd — Event Day, the following shifts are available:

  • 8AM–10AM (Final setup)
  • 10AM–1PM (Distribution)
  • 1PM–3PM (Distribution + Cleanup)
  • 3PM–5PM (Breakdown)
  • All Day

We facilitate dreams by promoting equity for all, using innovative solutions to bridge gaps in housing, health, and well-being.
