Market Volunteer Caryn Prather: “Just Do It!”

Caryn Prather is one of our dedicated volunteers serving her community at the Frisco Family Services Market, a role she has proudly held for more than five years since retiring as a nurse.

She says she really enjoys the sense of family that she has found among her fellow volunteers. “It’s a great way to meet new friends while going about tasks to ensure a client visit to the Market is a pleasant one”

We asked if she had any advice for anyone considering becoming a volunteer with Frisco Family Services, she said “Just do it! It’s just a matter of finding the right fit for you." When not serving as a volunteer, Caryn enjoys puzzles, movies and going out to eat with her husband.

From July 2021 through March 2022, more than 3,900 volunteers generously provided nearly 21,000 volunteer hours in various roles throughout the Agency, the Market, and Frisco Resale.

It's Time FORE! the Mayor's Golf Classic

Golfers of all skill levels are invited to join us as we celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Mayor's Golf Classic, Monday, June 27^th, at the Stonebriar Country Club.

This annual favorite provides golfers a day of fun, food, and fellowship. Additionally, it is an opportunity tee up on Stonebriar's elite Country Club Course — frequently named among the best-in-class greens regionally and nationally.

Proceeds from the Mayor’s Golf Classic support our mission to help members of our Frisco and Frisco ISD communities, who are facing hunger, homelessness, and other urgent needs, improve their quality of life and achieve self-sufficiency.

CLIENT SERVICES: SENIOR PROGRAMS

Spreading Sunshine & Happiness Through Flowers

Flowers are a symbol of spring, which officially began March 20^th. However, for many of our local seniors, perhaps it was the morning of April 13^th when they opened their door to a gifted floral arrangement along with a few small surprises.

In partnership with Cristina's Stone & Garden Center and Home Depot #6513, volunteers of Frisco Family Services spread out across predesignated routes to make the deliveries.

Each month, Frisco Family Services hosts a special event for its 55+ senior clients toward an overall goal to expand our senior programming.

Local senior Lena Clancy (above), was all smiles upon receiving this floral arrangement.

The North Texas Food Bank will present a special MyPlate cooking demonstration for our senior clients Wednesday,

May 18th, in the

Boxer Family Community Room.

Frisco Uncorked! — Will See You There?

Meet us at Frisco Uncorked!, April 30^th from noon to 7pm for Empty Bowls.

Empty Bowls is a grassroots fundraiser featuring hand-crafted, artisan-style bowls created by Frisco ISD students and educators.

The bowls symbolize the food insecurity that our local neighbors in crisis are experiencing. Many of the bowls are available for a minimum $5 donation. All proceeds go toward ending hunger among Frisco ISD students and family.

It is through supporters like you that we are able to provide access to nutritious food through our FFS Market — Frisco's community food source — as well as partial emergency financial assistance for rent/mortgage, utilities, prescription medications, and other support.
