Self-Directed Training

We are thrilled to announce that the free self-directed training offered by Promoting Equity in Healthcare Interpreting (PEHI) is now available! Our mission is to advance healthcare interpreting nationwide by improving the quality of communication patients receive during their healthcare experiences.

 

The main objectives of this training program are as follows:

 

1. Specialization in Healthcare Interpreting: Enhance interpreter skills to become specialists in healthcare interpreting.


2. Increase Healthcare-Specific Knowledge: Expand interpreters' understanding of healthcare terminology and practices.


3. Promote Best Practices in Deaf-centering Ethics : Encourage good ethics centered around the Deaf community; improve interpreter abilities for better ethical practices in medical interpreting.

 

The training will consist of 13 different modules. Participants are welcome to take as many modules as they like. Each module will be open for one month and participants will earn 0.5 RID CEUs in Professional Studies per module for 12 of them (possible total of 6.0 CEUs) and 1.0 RID CEU for Module 7 on ethics.
