Hello Scholars and Grads,

The Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) is the nation’s largest association dedicated to career development and leadership for students and professionals in all types of STEM fields (not just engineering).

SHPE can help you build your professional network, find a job through career fairs, and advance your careers. SHPE has over 13,000 members, many of whom are DREAMers, and dozens of member companies.

Here are two ways to get involved with SHPE now:
1. Become a member - $10
JOIN A STUDENT CHAPTER ON CAMPUS You don't have to be Hispanic!

Receive the benefits of a large, well-connected, national organization (networking, mentorship) but with a personal, local emphasis on what you need right now (resume building, career center) by joining one of 200 student chapters across the nation. Undergrad membership fee is $10.

Read more here and use this map to see if your college already has a chapter.
NO CHAPTER AT YOUR SCHOOL – YOU CAN STILL JOIN!

If your school is not listed as having an existing chapter, consider creating one yourself:
  • Use this handy guide to start a student chapter
Or, join as a member at large.
  • When you register, select the "SHPE At Large" option. This will be listed within the chapter selection menu under letter "S" for "SHPE Region X At Large"
2. Attend the 2020 SHPE National Convention - $200 (aid available)
The 2020 SHPE National Convention is the largest gathering of students and professionals in STEM in the U.S. every year. This year's virtual convention takes place Oct 26-30.

YOU WILL HAVE ACCESS TO:
  • a Career Fair with hundreds of companies and organizations doing interviews and hiring on the spot,
  • professional development and educational sessions, and
  • unparalleled networking with leading professionals and other students in STEM.

PLUS - TheDream.US will present a special session called DREAMers – Meaningful Careers with or without DACA on October 26th!
