Get Out and Enjoy Yourself

By Eleanor Collins

Shout out! This article is for people who are 50 and up, retired or not. I want to share my experience with you. If you are feeling old, lonely, or irrelevant, just because you're not in your prime, I'm here to let you know that you still have purpose. There are still lots of things that you can do, and experience. Here are a few examples; you could join a senior center, book or chess club or you can start your own; go out with family, or take a trip with friends, but please don't just sit and do nothing. Have you ever thought about volunteering? What about writing a book or getting involved in your community? The sky is the limit, just.... get out, build community, and above all, enjoy yourself.

Peer Support, Community, and the Stigma of Aging

Left untreated, mental health issues, such as depression, may leave this vulnerable population with disability or impairment. Such ailments can then lead to diminished quality of life, higher rates of mortality, and worsened health outcomes.
