Spring, 2022

Dear Friend of FCLNY:

There is HOPE! The U.S. Supreme Court is likely to overturn Roe vs Wade! We may soon be celebrating the greatest victory of the pro-life movement, the saved lives of millions of children and reinvigorated respect for mothers. It is because of your support that our feminist voices have been amplified on behalf of women and unborn children.

Overturning Roe, however, will have little impact on New York, except to substantially increase the number of pre-born children killed within the state, as well as the level of disrespect for women. New York already has the HIGHEST ABORTION RATE of any state in the U.S. Not only is New York a death chamber for ‘unplanned’ children in utero, the lives of the infirm and elderly are also at stake.

Anti-life special interests are particularly well financed in NY, hammering down relentlessly with policies that violate human rights. Having already enacted one of the most regressive abortion laws in the world (the Reproductive Health Act), NY’s legislature is now gearing up to pass an assisted suicide bill (Medical Aid in Dying), which would render fragile individuals acutely vulnerable to lethal violence. The culture in New York permeates with death.

What can we do?

We can raise our voices louder and smarter than our feminist counterparts. We have truth and justice on our side! FCLNY will not give up! But we need you to succeed.

What are we doing?

The RHA

The historic landmark lawsuit against NY’s Reproductive Health Act (RHA) was inspired by FCLNY. This lawsuit is more important than ever, with portions currently before the Second Circuit Court of Appeals and/or awaiting resolution in the federal trial court. We are so grateful to the Women’s Alliance Against Violence, the Thomas More Society and especially the plaintiff-victims who took on this legal challenge.

We continue to educate the public on the RHA with billboards, published commentary and film. FCLNY’s most recent video — WOMEN’S SAFETY?— illustrates the disturbing lack of concern for women’s safety ushered in by the RHA, under the guise of ‘women’s rights.’

FCLNY issued an exclusive report, the RHA’S IMPACTS ON WOMEN, in connection with our video. The report demonstrates, among other things, that abortion complications more than double where abortion guidelines are lax, like in NY.

According to our report, the RHA has primed NY for another Kermit Gosnell ‘house of horrors.’ You can see the referenced video, report, billboard images and publications on our website.

Please help us continue to raise awareness of the impacts of the RHA. So many people are unaware.

Legislative Advocacy

FCLNY is meeting with NY legislators across the state to promote policies that support life, for both women and their children inside and outside the womb.

Please see our 2022 pending bills packet, EXPANSIVE MEASURES REGARDING MATERNAL & CHILD WELLBEING. Our full bills packet is on our website’s BLOG, and contains bills we support and oppose, with hyperlinks and corresponding memorandum.

Considering the RHA repealed NY’s long-standing fetal homicide law, NY’s pending UNBORN VICTIMS OF VIOLENCE ACT is particularly ripe for enactment.

We recently teamed up with Feminists For Life of America to draft and issue media commentary explicitly calling for the demise of another bill in our packet— NY’s Limited Pregnancy Center bill, a proposed law which passed in the NY Legislature on May 31st that threatens to eliminate life-affirming pregnancy resource centers, state-wide.

Pregnancy Resource Centers assist poor women facing unplanned pregnancies with vital resources. These resources include tangibles, such as cribs, car seats, high chairs and baby clothes, in addition to referrals and help obtaining food stamps, affordable housing and health insurance.

Please see our website for press coverage and to read the release, WOMEN DESERVE BETTER THAN S470/A5499.

Domestic Violence, Sex Trafficking and Abortion

We directly address THE ROOT CAUSES OF PUBLICLY SANCTIONED LETHAL VIOLENCE. Domestic violence and sex trafficking in addition to poverty are primary drivers of abortion rates within our state and nation wide.

FCLNY is beginning to work with legislators to draft NY bills that will help free women from coerced abortions. We are in discussions regarding proposed laws that would require and ensure the posting of both the domestic violence and sex trafficking hotlines in various NY facilities, including a broad range of healthcare centers, such as Planned Parenthoods and other abortion providers. FCLNY continues to distribute these hotlines to abortion clinics and other entities in NY.

We need your support to carry this through!

Women and girls merit access to domestic violence and sex trafficking HOTLINES!

Studies show that healthcare providers are one of the few professionals that interface with victims of sex trafficking. Data reveals that women and girls who experience domestic violence and sex trafficking undergo coerced abortions and comprise a sizable portion of abortion clinic patients.

Life-Affirming Resources

We’ve recently partnered with Feminists For Nonviolent Choices to launch our first annual WOMEN AND CHILDREN’S RESOURCE FAIR! Organizations that provide essential services and referrals to underserved women, including pregnancy resource centers, were busy distributing information to families in the inner-city of Rochester. Words cannot express the joy it was to witness women feeling true relief when they received the information provided.

FCLNY wants to replicate this resource fair in cities across NY. We need your support to do this!

Here’s what one mom said about her experience, at our resource fair, “ I am glad I came with my kids today. I found so much resources and information I did not know about. I know it is going to help me a lot.”

FCLNY is collaborating with Angels of Mercy and The Margaret Home for a summer launch of the MONARCA PROJECT, a monthly peer support group for women who have experienced trauma, including abortion, sex trafficking, domestic violence, and other abuses.

The project aims to educate on the various forms and impacts of trauma on women, including the negative effects of abortion, issues ‘pro-choice’ advocates continue to minimize or completely dismiss. The peer support group’s purpose is to foster healing and empowerment— to help break the cycle of abuse! Whole, confident women make better choices.

Please help us assist these women.

FCLNY’s NY Resource Directories, including our Pregnancy Resource Center Guide and Women’s Guide to Healthcare continue to be updated, expanded and distributed state-wide. Our resource indexes are raising awareness and other non-profits are duplicating our efforts.

FCLNY is countering the pro-death narrative! Not only by words, but by ACTION.

WE PROMOTE PROTECTING LIFE FROM WOMB TO THE TOMB!

Peaceful Demonstrations and Productive Discussions

The devastating violent military action in Ukraine has gripped our hearts, killed and torn families apart. We recently held an anti-war demonstration, PUSHING FOR PEACE, with the Dnipro Ukrainian Cultural Center, in Buffalo, where we also donated hundreds of pairs of new socks to Ukrainian families in need. Thanks to a generous FCLNY supporter who donated these soft, comfortable socks in many sizes! Please see our website’s media outreach page for press coverage. The Dnipro Ukrainian Center reached out just a few days ago, thanking FCLNY for our efforts and wanting us to come back!

FCLNY continues to CALL FOR DIALOGUE!

We are planning to hold our symposium on contemporary feminism, An Unsafe Space, Episode III, October, 2022. This event brings together scholars and activists with divergent world views for a DISCUSSION on the most contentious topics of our day. Symposium discussion topics have thus far included abortion, female poverty, and bodily autonomy. We are preparing to expand the range of issues discussed. We are looking to plunge into and pierce the snarly subjects that are polarizing us and raining confusion through misinformation.

Tensions are higher than ever in NY and nationwide regarding a myriad of LIFE and DEATH issues.

FCLNY is committed to non-violent action, which begins with INFORMED CONVERSATION!

Please be on the lookout for the launching of COMMUNITY CONVERSATION CIRCLES, a project we are currently exploring that will allow us to further and more informally engage people on opposite sides on issues related to the consistent life ethic. We are interested in elevating productive dialogue, discussions that will propel us forward rather than stymie progress because of hatred and misguided resentment.

We are raising our pro-life feminist voices and making a difference!

We are conducting meet-ups with new FCLNY supporters across NY, thanks to our incredible NY Regional Coordinators. We are conducting presentations on the consistent life ethic in various venues, tabling at events and counter-protesting. We are frequently in the news! Please see our website for all of our latest TV news appearances and published commentary.

Our SOCIAL MEDIA IS REACHING TENS OF THOUSANDS! It is powerful! If you are not following us on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and YouTube, PLEASE DO!

FCLNY is working hard to transform the culture of death in NY to one of LIFE.

We need your help to do this!

PLEASE CONSIDER BECOMING A MONTHLY DONOR. We need committed monthly resources to GROW THE PRO-LIFE FEMINIST MOVEMENT! No amount is too small.

It all adds up.
