Call to Action: SSYI Follow us on Twitter @SSYIadvocacy
UTEC Ally, we need your help.

The Safe and Successful Youth Initiative (SSYI) is a violence prevention strategy that includes support for 11 cities (Boston, Lynn, Lowell, Worcester, Springfield, Lawrence, Brockton, Chelsea, Fall River, New Bedford and Holyoke) for targeted intervention programs with high impact youth and their families. The state-funded SSYI is essential to agencies like UTEC who serve our most at-risk young people.

Funding for SSYI is currently at risk.
Our ASK! Please contact your state legislators TODAY OR TOMORROW and ask them to prioritize the full $4 million proposed for SSYI in the Senate budget.

SSYI Press Conference 6.4.2013

Watch the Press Conference organized by the SSYI Advocacy Coalition this past Tuesday, attended by over 200 people.

Why it Matters

SSYI requires $10 million in FY14 to continue serving 1,100 of the most at-risk young men. SSYI is unique in providing essential interventions for young men at a high risk for gun violence, as victims or perpetrators.

Right now, the House Budget for FY14 has SSYI at $0 and the Senate at $4 million. Now is our chance to ask our legislators to prioritize the full $4 million proposed in the Senate budget. We are hopeful that Governor Patrick will file a supplemental budget to obtain the level funding of $10 million and are urging, in advance, all legislators to support this as well.

Thanks for continuing to use your voice to end youth violence!
