Join Us Next Week!

Dear YANA Community,

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the YANA–Dwight Hall Summer Fellowship, please join us next Wednesday, March 25 at 6:30 PM ET for our monthly Live From New York Town Hall at the Yale Club.

This special evening will highlight the transformative impact of the Fellowship and how it empowers Yale students to pursue lives of purpose and service. Featured speakers Laura Haight ’23 and Yakeleen Almazan ’25 will share how the experience has shaped their career paths, life choices, and commitment to making a difference. We will also be joined by Mark Fopeano, Director of Programming & Evaluation at Dwight Hall.

As we look ahead to supporting the next generation of Fellows, we hope you’ll be inspired by these young alumni and consider how you can be part of our continued impact.

Laura Haight '23

Laura is originally from upstate New York and graduated cum laude from Yale College in 2023 with a B.A. in History and distinction in the major. As a YANA-Dwight Hall Summer Fellow, Laura interned at the D.C. Federal Public Defender’s Office, where she helped craft defenses for low-income defendants. The experience deepened her commitment to racial and economic justice and expanding access to counsel. At graduation, she received the Roosevelt L. Thompson Prize for her commitment to public service. Since graduating, Laura has worked as a paralegal at the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office, supporting litigation to mitigate the housing crisis and enforce affordable housing laws. Laura plans to pursue a career fighting for the protection of human dignity as an attorney working in direct legal services and public impact litigation.
