A Message from the VP

Good Morning,

HUD has moved the mandatory implementation date of the new Inspection standards to 2027. If all supporting systems are completed before the federal implementation, CMHA could move forward with NSPIRE-V as the inspection process. We will keep you updated on when the switch from HQS to NSPIRE will be made by CMHA. Thank you to the property owners who took the time to attend the national training session on NSPIRE-V. The feedback regarding the training was very positive. You can learn more about upcoming sessions provided by the US Inspection Group by visiting their website: USIG

Furthermore, effective January 1, 2026, inspection appointments and results will be sent via email and posted in the landlord portal. CMHA will cease sending letters by US Mail. Please make sure your email account and phone number are current with us. CMHA will not be able to extend due dates or cancel abatements because the owner has failed to check the portal for inspection results, provide us with an email account or failed to acknowledge an email that was sent.

Did you know CMHA and the local Veterans' Administration (VA) work together to provide housing and supportive services for veterans struggling with homelessness? The VA provides ongoing case management and supportive services for the Veterans while CMHA provides housing subsidy with a voucher. I encourage you to consider participating in the HUD-VASH program by providing affordable housing to one of our most vulnerable populations. Click here to watch a video on HUD-VASH.

After a year of not pulling from the waitlist to prevent a shortfall, we are once again issuing vouchers to families in need of affordable housing. You are invited to join us at Your Rental Connection to meet potential residents. The events are held every Tuesday at our HCV Administrative Office. During the month of October if you participate in Your Rental Connection and execute a lease and approved tenancy (successful move-in) with a family you met at the event, you will be entered into a random drawing for one $1000 prize. Learn more about Connect, Lease, & Win by reading the full details on our website (click here).

Please be advised that CMHA will reject an RTA that is submitted when the owner listed on the Hamilton County Auditor’s website does not match the one listed on the RTA. CMHA will also start using the IRS Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) matching process as part of our vendor and landlord management practices. TIN Matching is an IRS process that allows us to verify that vendor or landlord TINs and names match IRS records, helping to ensure accurate reporting and reduce the risk of errors or penalties. Please ensure that your W9 information is updated and accurate.

Do you have a landlord you’d like us to spotlight? CMHA staff, voucher holders, partner organizations and landlords can suggest property owners and managers for this recognition. If you have a suggestion, please indicate why this person(s) should be recognized. Email the details and photos (if available) to this link: HCV Help.

Kind regards,

Lisa Isham
