LONDON SOMETHING PODCAST LIVE.

DJ Ron brings his podcast to the stage for the first time with a live panel session focussing on the impact of dubplate culture in the digital age.

From the earliest foundations of the Jungle scene, before the term Drum & Bass was coined, Music House was the mecca for those thirsty to get their music out into the World. It was also, along with record shops, one of the central networking hubs of the DJ and producer community.

Before the USB stick or an mp3 share were conceived, the dub cutting service provided by Chris and the team at Music House was essential for the biggest DJs of the Jungle scene searching for exclusive fresh new music. The influence of Music House on DJ culture should not be overlooked - name any massive 90s Jungle record, it was cut on dubplate at Music House first!

BROCKIE

A DJ intrinsically linked to both Kool FM and Jungle, Brockie discovered hardcore after playing soul, hip-hop and Ragga.

As somebody who has remained a constant throughout the Jungle and Drum'n'Bass scene, Brockie knows only too well the importance of an upfront selection.

He'll share his thoughts on the past and the current challenges posed by the digitisation of the DJ booth.

CHRIS | MUSIC HOUSE

Chris Hanson, aka Chris Music House, was originally famed as the guitarist in the reggae band Black Slate who went on to have the top 10 UK hit record Amigo.

We're truly honoured that Chris can join us to share the story of Music House, a cornerstone of many UK music scenes including Jungle, DnB, UK Garage and more.

This is a chance to get an exclusive insight into the foundation of dubplate culture.

DJ RAP

As an international DJ and CEO of two record labels, Rap knows the importance of breaking a track on the dance floor. Her skills both behind the decks and in the studio have created millions of memories for ravers throughout the years.

The key to her continued success is the ability to break new music.  During her years on the Jungle circuit, especially at the Soundclash, she relied on dubplates to keep her sound fresh.

Rap will share the impact that dubplate culture continues to have on her career behind the decks.

GEENEUS

Founder of Rinse FM, Geeneus has witnessed the digital evolution of his radio studios over the years.

His belief in the progression of each musical genre broadcast by Rinse has seen the development of an ever evolving roster at the station.

The need to play upfront is key to the Rinse ethos of breaking new music, while also always paying homage to the classics that helped build the Jungle, UKG, Grime and the others scene that followed.

Geeneus embraced dubplate culture as both a DJ and radio manager, he'll share his thoughts on both the past and future of dubs in defining new sounds.

JUMPIN JACK FROST

When it comes to cutting dubs it needs to be big, bad and heavy and Frost knows a thing or two about weighty plates.  A DJ from way back when, his upfront selection kept Frost on line-ups throughout the Acid House, Hardcore and Jungle eras and beyond.

Having created V Records, with Bryan Gee, Frost knows the importance of breaking new music.  The power of the dubplate, and now technology such as CDJ-3000 from Pioneer DJ, puts the latest beats into the record box (or should that be Rekordbox) of trendsetters.

MICKY FINN

From Acid House to Hardcore, Jungle through to Drum N Bass, Micky Finn has been a constant of the UK underground.

He's cut his fair share of dubs over the years, they've even inspired some of the designs in his "Tools Of The Trade" collection of clothing.

Micky understands the importance of an exclusive, with dubplates in his collection that always demand a reload!

Get ready for an insight into Micky's perspective on dubplate culture, as a DJ who has constantly strived to play the latest music.
