General Assembly Priorities for 2020
The Virginia General Assembly is currently in session and debating many issues that matter to us all. NVCT is tracking and advocating for legislation that pertains to land conservation in our area as well as budget priorities that would bring much-needed investment to our parks, wildlife, and natural areas. NVCT Staffing Changes
Liz Holland joins NVCT as Administrative Coordinator after working with Primitive Pursuits, a program in partnership with
4-H and Cornell Cooperative Extension in Ithaca, NY. She now lives with her aunt and uncle, and two younger cousins, in Falls Church, VA.
Alyssa Hemler is now in a
full-time Land Stewardship position. She has been the Administrative Coordinator for NVCT for most of the last two years. Originally from Maryland, Alyssa currently lives in Alexandria, VA.
Crow's Nest Heron Nest Count 2020

NVCT recently spent a day alongside staff from DCR and Stafford County at our Crow's Nest Heronry site and we took the time where we counted and logged all of the Heron Nests across the preserve. Read more
Nearby Nature Winners Celebrated
We hosted our annual Nearby Nature Photo Showcase on January 11, 2020, at Reston Art Gallery. The event was made possible thanks to our more than 150 photo submissions, generous sponsors (Glory Days, Great American Restaurants, Meadows Landscaping and Nursery, and The National Parks Service), and Reston Art Gallery.
