COUNTYWIDE EVICTION MORATORIUM - DELAYED BUT NOT GONE


Thanks to all your calls and emails from housing providers to the Board of Supervisors, these elected officials delayed a decision on an eviction moratorium connected to ICE activity.


However, the Board is now considering declaring a state of emergency to allow a moratorium to be considered yet again.


The Board of Supervisors will vote on enacting a state of emergency on Tuesday October 14th. Please write or call the Supervisors to remind them:

  • An eviction moratorium is a blunt tool to solve a specific problem. Previous moratoria have led to enormous losses for small housing providers, and we can't continue to be the backup option for government failures.
  • The Board of Supervisors has already approved a rent relief program to help tenants directly affected by this issue.
  • An eviction moratorium is a serious overreach, and even the County's own legal advisors have said that it could be challenged in court.

You can contact the Supervisors' offices directly using the emails and phone numbers below. Tell them that you oppose Agenda Item 15 as it could put further pressure on small time housing providers, leading to fewer affordable units and forced sales to corporate investors and developers.

RENTAL REGISTRY DEADLINE OCT 31st


Remember when we told you about the doubling of the yearly registration fee per unit? Your $238 per unit is now due by Oct 31st. The Rent Stabilization Department is announcing fines for late payment.

RENT REGULATION COVERS ALL RENTALS


Despite activists' claims when they solicited votes for Measure H, the RSD demands registration and a fee of $238 per year for ALL rented houses, condos and ADU's.
